The first step of the application process is to correctly complete the application itself. Once the application is returned to the personnel department it will be reviewed. If the applicant meets all of the requirements a notice will be mailed to him/her informing them of future process dates.
Physical Agility Test
This is usually the second phase of the application process. During this phase all applicants will receive notice of their physical requirements. Applicants must pass all portions of the physical agility test in order to continue with the application process.

Written Examination
All applicants must take a written examination during this phase. The written exam usually consist of multiple choice questions that test that applicants reading, comprehension, observations, and memory skills.
Interview
Only the applicants that have passed the previous phases of the application process will be invited to participate in an oral interview. The interview is usually conducted by City Hall and Police Department officials.
Psychological Evaluation
The applicant will complete a number of written psychological
tests.
Background
A thorough and complete investigation into the background of the candidate will be completed. This investigation is composed of, but not limited to:
-Criminal and Arrest History
-Employment History
-Military History
-Driving History
-Educational History
-Credit (Financial) History
-Verification of references
